Spring 2012; A Semester to Always remember
“As the semester draws to a close, the Campus Activities Board would like to wish each and every one of you a great summer. It has been an eventful semester and memorable one for everyone of us. We have re-visited the seventies with a bang, hosted 2 face live on campus, exhibited team spirit in our spring fling, laughed at the jokes of the legendary Basket Mouth and created even more memorable moments.”
These were the exact words of ANDREW DRE ALDRAINE, President of CAB — An acronym for Campus Activities Board.
The words were conveyed some weeks back in an email communication to the student body. After reading the email to the end, I recalled with nostalgia the several moments of excitements that the Campus Activities Board has masterminded. The Spring 2012 semester has been particularly remarkable and I will not be comfortable if I do not share my own insight on it. Many have actually written me and requested that I write my view on the Spring 2012 semester. Most essentially, many have requested that I write on the SGA election which is believed to be one of the most terrific events of the semester. Well, I have said, and I will continue to say, I reserve my comments on that for now. Please don’t ask me why because you will not get a satisfactory response – so there is no point.
Back to the bone of contention, Spring 2012 has been fulfilling and interesting. There are several activities that made the semester remarkable. At first it somehow gave an impression that it was going to be boring, but it ended up in the opposite way. The Val event is so fantabulous! I missed it and I still blame myself till now for not attending such an auspicious event. But it’s all good! Thereafter we had the RAVE party. A party to always remember! The concept was different and it was really entertaining for AUN students. We later had the Festival of expression with Shanelle Gabriel. We also had some good time with Basket Mouth who came to AUN for a golden performance! How can we ever forget the Spring Fling Concert Night where we almost forgot that tuface was never an AUN student? The inter dorm spring competition was colourful and bright. We (including the alums) all came out to represent our different hall of residence with our traditional colour and ideologies. The Stallion Awards too cannot be forgotten! There were also more community service options. All these contributed to what made the semester very awesome.
It doesn’t end there; CAB has assured that next semester will be more promising! Amazing? Yes it is! I encourage students not to forget the CGPA factor! CAB members are group of genuine and industrious people whose primary responsibility is to ensure than there is live on campus at all time. Christy can attest to that. As a student, your own primary responsibility is your academic, or to be more discreet, your CGPA! So you should play it smart. It’s just an advice, and if you need help beyond that, please see Omorx at the Public Relations and Communications Office.
This year’s senior week has been labelled the best so far in AUN. It consist of the bonfire, Alumni All white party, Senior Ball, Awards Night and a lot more. I share some pictures here for your insight!
