The American University of Nigeria Student Government Association is the sole elective student governing body on campus that provides a forum for the expressions of student views and interests; promote academic freedom and responsibility and high standards of education; and ensures promotion of the welfare of the academic, cultural, and social aspects of the AUN Community.
Largely known by the acronym of SGA, the body which is comprised of Executive & Legislative branches, guarantees the rights & responsibilities of all students, and serves as communication and representation - bridge between the university and its students, and thus serves as dedicated and unified organization with a strong voice and visible presence on the AUN campus.
Students may be elected and or appointed into positions in the University SGA. Such positions to be filled include: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer, Director of Academics, Assistant Director of Academics 1, Assistant Director of Academics 2, Director of Internal Affairs, Director of Sports & Recreation, Assistant Director of Sports & Recreation, Director of Student Welfare, Assistant Director of Student Welfare, Associate Director of Special Projects , International Student Representative.
The SGA also has Auxiliary Bodies which help to coordinate activities at the center. These include: Club Council, Student-Staff Relations Committee, and Student-Faculty Relations Committee & Constitutional Council.
